Richard du Toit

Richard du Toit has been a full time professional wildlife photographer for over 30 years. He grew up on a farm in South Africa and as a boy was fascinated with both wildlife and photography. He completed a BSc Honors degree in Zoology but photography was always his main passion. In the 1995 BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition he won a first prize with a photograph of fighting leopards - the catalyst that started his career. Richard has travelled widely in southern Africa and Kenya to photograph wildlife and landscapes. Over the years he has also done hundreds of hours of aerial photography of wildlife, agriculture, mining, and urban South Africa. In 2002 Richard was featured in a book by Terry Hope “The World's Top Wildlife Photographers, and the stories behind their greatest images". Some of Richard’s photographs have featured in National Geographic, BBC Wildlife and Nature's Best magazines. In the 2007 Nature’s Best Photography competition he won the overall Grand Prize with an aerial photograph of Zebras in the Makgadikgadi Pans. Richard uses his photographs in calendars, books and for many online purposes. However most of all he loves using his best photographs to make signed limited edition Fine Art Prints and Canvas that are displayed and enjoyed around the world. He has been making them since 2006 and all are printed to order at Silvertone International.
